Cheap Internet Hosting – Pros and Cons

We know that often the purpose of Article Marketing is to drive targeted traffic to your website in the hope that they will make a purchase, or take some other action. But if this doesn’t happen the first time they arrive at your site you could have lost the contact and it’s extremely unlikely that someone will buy from you on first contact. Some people say it takes seven contacts before a purchaser knows you well enough to make an purchase from you.

So, when marketing online, having a squeeze page on a site you host yourself, will give you an advantage over anyone who doesn’t, because you can collect their names and stay in contact with them.

To have your own squeeze page, you need somewhere to host it, which leads onto the question of how to find cheap Internet hosting, and beyond that an analysis of whether “cheap” is a good idea.

Well, I guess the pros are pretty obvious – it’s cheap. But it’s the cons that are the worrying part.

I fell into the trap of going with a company because it was cheap and looked good on the surface. Sadly they “lost” one of my websites an amazing three times in the space of one month. Furthermore they then had the cheek to tell me that it had never been there in the first place!

As you can imagine I decided to move pretty quickly, because a disappearing website is not helpful, especially when you’re not an expert and rather feeling your way with getting online.

(I wasn’t the only one to have problems, because in a forum where I was given help, several other people had experienced problems with this same hosting company.)

Will I name and shame the problem hosting company? Not likely – I don’t want to leave myself open to legal action.

But what I will tell you is that it is NOT the company I am advertising on this site, so if you’re looking for a new hosting company you can click on their advert with confidence.

It’s thanks to their patient support team handling the “move” from old to new site that I was able to get up and running again with minimum disruption. And the transfer service was included as part of the fee.

The moral of this sad story is to remember, when you are looking for a hosting company, that “cheap” isn’t the most important factor. Reliable hosting is far more important.

Nevertheless, there are many affordable hosting packages that come within even a beginner’s budget, and you can find some of them below.
