Choosing Domain Names

One way to improve your SEO rankings is to choose a domain name that incorporates your main keywords.

This can be easier said than done, as at first glance you will probably find that the domains for your “best” keywords have been taken long ago. So you need to act a little smarter.  And here are some of the tactics you might think about using.

  • Should you try using .com , .net , .biz, .org, .info, and other suffixes for SEO purposes?
  • What is the effect of using hyphens between your keywords?
  • If you have a keyword with a broad match domain name will that be as valuable as an exact match keyword domain?
  • You may decide to add a word to the beginning or end of your domain/phrase – does this help, and if so which is better?
  • Is it a good idea to register a domain name in the top three TLD’s for the sole purpose of keeping your competitors from getting hold of it?
